Ladies and Gentlemen,
I wanted to tell you of my travels for the month of September. I am leaving for San Diego on the 1st to attend the CAP Summer Boards. One big item on our agenda will be selecting a new vice commander for CAP. Great Lakes Region Cammander Col Carr, has put his hat in the ring. They will be streamed sessions and depending upon where they seat Great Lakes Region you may or may not get a glimpse of me. After the Boards, I hope to spend a week in southern IL visiting the units down there, so be pre-warned.
Those planning cadet orientation flights or ES training missions, realize that 14 SEPTEMBER is the LAST DAY we can do flights or training per CAP NHQ. Plan accordingly and get the request in now.
Squadrons, we need your budgets in now, we have to finalize the wing's budget before 1 Oct 10. All finance paperwork needs to be reviewed and renewed on 1 Oct too.
The Wing Staff will be very busy the next two months preparing for our Compliance Inspection which is 6-8 Nov. Just as your units prepare for inspection from Group Commanders, we are preparing for NHQ to send inspectors to us.
Lastly, with Labor Day right around the corner, I hope you all have a safe, enjoyable holiday. If you have the availability and time, there are several squadrons participating in event in their communites and they can always use help to man information booths to promote CAP. Have a happy Labor Day weekend.

The Civil Air Patrol is a volunteer non-profit organization that performs as the United States Air Force Auxiliary during times of need. Although the typical function of CAP has been SAR (Search and Rescue), locating, deactivating ELTs and lending assistance to pilots (and crew) of overdue or missing aircraft. CAPs missions include Cadet Programs, Emergency Services, which includes both SAR and DR (Disaster Relief) and Aerospace Education.
Though Civil Air Patrol is known for its flying missions, CAP members do much more than that. In fact less than a fifth of all CAP members are pilots or aircrew members. CAP members come from all walks of life. Some are doctors, nurses, paramedics, or other medical professional. Others are lawyers, paralegals, accountants, computer programmersand other business professionals and executives. Mechanics, cooks, educators, police officers, clergy, parents and students, really just about any career or background can be useful to and found in the ranks of CAP. |

Attention all commanders,
MGen Courter has written another policy letter that supercedes the 15 Jun letter. Please read it because it takes some of the requirements off the cadets attending summer encampment as students. I have read your letters concerning the requirements being placed on the sq cc and I agree that streamlining is the only way to go.
