Civil Air Patrol 2018 Legislative Day

CAP’s 2018 Legislative Day will be taking place on Thursday, 01 Mar 2018 in Washington D.C.
This annual event provides Civil Air Patrol leadership and its members an opportunity to talk one-on-one with their Congressional representatives about the future of CAP operations, past-year accomplishments, and organizational funding requirements. This is a joint effort involving CAP members from all 52 Wings. The project officers are busy completing the final details with only two weeks to go before they leave for Washington D.C. on February 28

Congratulations to C/1Lt Roi Norber, Compton Composite Squadron, C/2Lt Felix Zheng, Fox Valley Composite Squadron, C/CMSgt Jonathan Norber, Compton Composite Squadron, C/CMSgt Sam Sobczak, Palwaukee Composite Squadron, C/CMSgt Alejandro Trevino, Magnus Composite Squadron and C/SSgt Nigel Hill, Scott Composite Squadron on their selection in this years Legislative days activities. Cadets submitted a essay outlining their achievements in and out of CAP and were interviewed by a senior selection committee.  The cadets use of customs and courtesies and communication skills weighed heavily on the selection process. This year the selection process was difficult because all the cadets who submitted their essays and were interviewed were the best of the best.

The selected cadets will accompany the senior contingent that includes Col Jay Burrell, Commander Illinois Wing, LtCol Tod Whitmore, COS/ILWG, LtCol Harold Damron, GR/ILWG and Legislative Day Project Officer, LtCol Robert Dempsey , Director Cadet Programs/ILWG , LtCol Robert Taylor, ILWG/LGT, LtCol Jim Bartel, Com Officer Grp 2 and Asst. Legislative Day Project Officer, and Group Commanders LtCol Paul Hertel, Grp 1 and Maj John Fletcher Grp 4 . Seniors and cadets will walk the “Hill” on March 1st, talking to our representatives in congress, informing them of their accomplishments and what being a member in Civil Air Patrol means to them. On Friday, March 2nd cadets and  seniors will visit some of the museums and memorials on the mall.
