We are Volunteers

The Civil Air Patrol is a volunteer non-profit organization that performs as the United States Air Force Auxiliary during times of need. Although the typical function of CAP has been SAR (Search and Rescue), locating, deactivating ELTs and lending assistance to pilots (and crew) of overdue or missing aircraft. CAPs missions include Cadet Programs, Emergency Services, which includes both SAR and DR (Disaster Relief) and Aerospace Education.

Though Civil Air Patrol is known for its flying missions, CAP members do much more than that. In fact less than a fifth of all CAP members are pilots or aircrew members. CAP members come from all walks of life. Some are doctors, nurses, paramedics, or other medical professional. Others are lawyers, paralegals, accountants, computer programmersand other business professionals and executives. Mechanics, cooks, educators, police officers, clergy, parents and students, really just about any career or background can be useful to and found in the ranks of CAP.
